Text messages from RingSmith
RingSmith answers calls for small businesses with an AI receptionist. Sometimes the receptionist texts a caller a link, such as one to send the business a photo of the problem. This page says when that happens and how callers agree to it.
When we text a caller
Only when the caller agrees to it, on the call, about that call. The receptionist offers a link when a photo would help the business understand what the caller needs, and sends it only after the caller says yes. It goes to the number the caller is calling from, and to no other number. We never send marketing.
How a caller agrees
The caller agrees out loud, during the call. For example:
Receptionist: Would you like a link to upload a photo of the leak, so Dave can see it before he comes? It comes by WhatsApp or text from RingSmith.
Caller: Yes please.
Receptionist: Done. It’s on its way to the number you’re calling from, and the link works for 24 hours.
If the caller says no, or doesn’t answer clearly, nothing is sent. When the caller says yes, the message reads:
Dave’s Plumbing: to show us the problem, upload a photo here: https://api.hoycall.com/api/v1/photo-upload/Xk3fP9aQ2mR7tL1vB8nC0w (works for 24 hours)
How often
One message for each request. A caller gets another only if they agree to one again on a later call.
Who it comes from
Texts come from “RingSmith”. In the United States and Canada, where messages can’t come from a name, they come from RingSmith’s toll-free number, +1 877 692 6413. Where WhatsApp is available on the caller’s phone, the link may come by WhatsApp instead.
Cost
RingSmith doesn’t charge callers. Message and data rates from the caller’s own network may apply.
Stopping and help
In the United States and Canada, reply STOP to the toll-free number to get no more texts from it, and HELP for help. Anyone can also email [email protected].
Your number
We never share callers’ phone numbers, or their agreement to receive texts, with anyone for marketing or promotional purposes. Twilio sends the messages for us. How we handle callers’ data is in our privacy policy, and the rules businesses agree to are in our terms.
